Mumbai- Naraka Chaturdashi is a Hindu festival, which falls on Chaturdashi of the Krushna Paksha of the Ashvin month, which is the second day of the five-day-long festival of Diwali. According to the Hindu literature, the demon Narakasura was killed on this day by Krishna, Satyabhama and Kali. While dying, Narkasur expressed his desire to Lord Krishna saying that whoever will do ‘Abhyangsnan’, will not suffer in hell and he also asked to light lamps (diyas) and celebrate the day. Abhyangsnan is done using 'utna' and oil and is done in all other days of Diwali festival. And so, Narak Chaturdashi came in to existence and ‘Abhyangsnan’ became a tradition which is followed by all.
