Mumbai – Popular Marathi theatre and film actor Ashwini Ekbote passed away after suffering a heart attack during a performance at Bharat Natyamandir in Pune on Saturday evening. She was 44. The actor was performing in a play named ‘Natyatrividha’. She collapsed on the stage after she suffered a heart attack. Ashwini Ekbote had given notable performances in TV shows like ‘Durva, Radha Hi Bawari’, ‘Asambhav’, ‘Kashala Udyachi Baat’. Her negative portrayal in ‘Asambhav’ had won accolades. She had also worked in a TV series ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ on Colors Marathi channel. The actor had also worked in Marathi films including ‘Bavre Prem He’, ‘Taptpadi’, ‘Aarambh’, ‘Kshan Ha Mohacha’, and ‘High Command’.

Sharad Ponkshe, who was a close friend of Ashwini, shared her last words with Mumbai Live. "Before her performance, she came to me and said she does not get to perform so, henceforth, whenever she will get a chance, she will perform", said teary-eyed Sharad.
