Indian cinema's legendary music composer, Khayyam (Mohammed Zahur Khayyam Hashmi) passes away in Mumbai. He suffered a cardiac arrest and was being treated at a hospital in the city. Confirming the news with indianexpress.com, popular singer Talat Aziz said, “He passed away at 9:30 PM of cardiac arrest, but the factors were bilateral lung infection and he fought bravely for more than 21 days. I am at the hospital right now.”

It was reported earlier that Khayyam collapsed in his house on July 28, and was being treated for a lung infection since then. The 92-year-old legend was admitted to Sujoy Hospital in Juhu.
He was one of the popular names in the music industry and had composed many songs which are remembered even today.
His music received a lot of popularity from 1961 and his compositions from blockbusters like Umrao Jaan, Kabhi Kabhi, and many others are loved by the audience of all ages.was a noted music composer of the Hindi film industry and was best known for his compositions in films like Umrao Jaan and Kabhi Kabhi.
