The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is readying itself to enter electoral politics in Maharashtra. The AAP party has announced that they will be contesting Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in Mumbai.

The decision comes in the backdrop of the party's participation in Gujarat polls and a win in recently concluded Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections.

AAP national joint secretary and in-charge of the party’s Maharashtra unit, Gopal Italia said that no political party is taking the problems of Mumbaikars seriously. "They (all political parties) have failed and now people have an alternative in the form of Aam Aadmi Party," he said during a press conference.

Italia said that AAP will set up a full-fledged organisation and contest all upcoming elections in Maharashtra.

"The people of Maharashtra have tried and tested all political parties, who have miserably failed them and have only looted the public exchequer. Under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal, a full-fledged party organisation will be set up in Maharashtra and we will contest all big and small elections in the state with full strength," Italia said.

Preeti Sharma Menon, AAP's Mumbai unit chief said AAP will fight the BMC polls with all its strength and grit.

"We will fight the BMC elections with all our strength. Education, Health, Electricity, Water, Roads and Cleanliness will be our major issues. At present BJP's ED (Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis) sarkar is only floating tenders and indulging in wholesale loot. The Aam Aadmi Party is not just the alternative but the solution," Menon said.
