According to media reports, IMD director general Mrutunjay Mohapatra informed that the storm was 75 km southeast of Mumbai and 65 km west of Pune and it has started weakening. The current wind speed is 90-100 km per hour which will further reduce by the evening, he said.

The IMD further stated that the cyclone will weaken into a cyclonic storm by evening and into a deep depression by the late night. Meanwhile, around 1,500 people were evacuated and moved to a sturdy shelter in Alibaug where the cyclone made its landfall.
