The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has called for a 'Maharashtra Bandh' on Saturday (August 24) to protest the sexual assault of two minor female students at Adarsh Vidyamandir School in Badlapur. The leaders of MVA have appealed to the people to participate in this bandh in large numbers.


The incident of sexual assault of two female students by a cleaning worker of the school had a strong impact in Badlapur on Tuesday. An angry mob protested at Badlapur railway station and blocked the Central Railway line for more than ten hours.

The MVA cancelled the discussion on seat allocation in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday. In the meeting, it was decided to observe a state-wide bandh on Saturday, expressing anger over the increasing incidents of violence against women.

 

Congress Legislature Party Leader Balasaheb Thorat, Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar, State Working President Naseem Khan, Mumbai Congress President Varsha Gaikwad, Former Minister Anil Deshmukh, Jitendra Awad, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and others were present in the meeting.
