The mayoral election in the Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation has become highly contested, with political rivalries emerging despite state-level alliances. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) are competing for control of the mayor’s post, even as the BJP reportedly seeks support from some Congress corporators to secure a majority.

The Indian National Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction), and the Samajwadi Party had earlier formed a local coalition called the Bhiwandi Secular Front, but internal disagreements weakened their position. No party has an outright majority in the 90-seat house, where 46 votes are needed to elect the mayor.

Multiple candidates have filed nominations from various parties, including the Konark Vikas Aghadi and Bhiwandi Vikas Aghadi, reflecting a complex political scenario with shifting alliances as parties vie for control of the corporation.
