Mumbai – Though the BJP has won 82 seats in the BMC election, technically it has only 81 seats in its kitty. The party had left 25 seats for the RPI (Athawale).

On six of these 25 seats, BJP candidates contested the election on RPI ticket. The party had not suspended these six candidates from the party membership. One candidate, Asha Marathe, was fighting with her official party symbol.

City BJP chief Ashish Shelar had even campaigned for Marathe instead of Sunil Bansode who was the official candidate of the BJP-RPI(A) alliance. Marathe won the election. It simply means that the BJP cheated its alliance partner.
