Amid the unrest across the country over the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the implementation of CAA in Maharashtra.

The BJP tabled the demand in the ongoing winter session of the Maharashtra legislature. However, Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government has no official stance on the new legislation.

Reacting to the demands of implementation of CAA in the state, CM Uddhav Thackeray questioned that has the BJP government in the centre thought about where will they keep the Hindus from other countries.

CM Thackeray also pointed out the “failure” of the BJP government in protecting Marathi-speaking people in Belagavi in Karnataka.

You can’t do justice to Hindus in Karnataka. Is Begaum-Karwar in Pakistan? Why are Hinds suffering there? If you can’t give justice to Marathi-speaking population in Karnataka, what is the point of CAA,” CM Thackeray asked.

Taunting the BJP over their allegation regarding the unholy alliance, CM Thackeray said that it was a mistake for his party to mix religion with politics.

We came to know that politics is a gable. We suffered a lot by mixing religion with politics. The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is out wealth. We three parties joined hands and come together through hearts,” said Thackeray.

Shiv Sena formed the government with Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) after breaking alliance with the BJP.
