In a recent media interaction, actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar, who joined the Indian National Congress in March this year, slammed the Central Government for the security clampdown imposed in Jammu and Kashmir since August 4.

Further, the Congress politician revealed how her family had been affected due to the scrapping of Article 370. She said that her husband, a businessman who hails from Kashmir, hasn't been able to communicate with his parents for the last 22 days as Matondkar's in-laws live in Jammu and Kashmir.

Urmila Matondkar had tied the knot with Mohsin Akhtar Mir, a Kashmiri businessman/model in a private ceremony in March 2016.

She stated that the question was not about scrapping Article 370 but it had been done inhumanly. The former actress expressed her concerns over her in-laws' health as she said,

My father-in-law and mother-in-law stay there. Both are diabetic, have high blood pressure. Today is the 22nd day, neither me nor my husband have been able to speak to them. We have no clue if they have medicines available at home."

Earlier this year, on August 5, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had announced the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. The state of Jammu and Kashmir was bifurcated into two Union Territories: Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
