Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly elections, the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance will be a reality. According to sources, Congress and NCP have decided the Lok Sabha seat share to be 26 and 22, respectively. 

Earlier, the sources had informed that Congress-NCP alliance decided to go ahead with the 50-50 formula. NCP and Congress had both decided to contest elections on 24-24 Lok Sabha seats. Congress may contest elections on 26 LS seats while NCP will field its candidates on 22 LS seats in Maharashtra. 

Earlier, Pawar had expressed that all the anti-BJP parties must get together in the upcoming polls to remove BJP from power. NCP chief Sharad Pawar had claimed that his party will contest the upcoming elections in alliance with Congress and the seat share issue will be resolved.

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankar Singh Vaghela joined NCP on Tuesday. Vaghela, who was the Cabinet minister in UPA government, joined NCP in Ahmedabad in the presence of its chief Sharad Pawar. This might be beneficial for NCP for fetching Gujarati votes in Mumbai.
