Maharashtra state president of Congress Nana Patole has written a letter to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. In this letter, he requested Eknath Shinde, "Do not allow Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, president of Bageshwar Dham, to hold a program in Mumbai." Shastri's program was organized on March 18 and 19 in Mumbai.

In the letter, Patole wrote, “Maharashtra is a progressive state. There is no place in this state for people who spread superstitions. Preacher Dhirendra Shastri has insulted the entire Warkari sect by insulting Jagatguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj. The faith of millions of devotees has been shaken. Allowing Dhirendra Shastri's program, which insults Saint Tukaram, to take place in the state is tantamount to fueling superstition. That is why Dhirendra Shastri's program should not be allowed.”

Opposition from Amol Mitkari
When asked about this by media representatives, Patole said, "People with a mindset like Bageshwar should be reined in by the government. If the government itself is spoiling the atmosphere of the state by supporting such people, it is not good for the state.”

NCP MLA Amol Mitkari said, "We had demanded in the legislative council that strict action should be taken against this Bageshwar baba." If this superstition-promoting baba gets permission for the program in the state, we oppose it.” Dhirendra Shastri's program is organized at Mira Road near Mumbai.
