Congress Unveils Candidates for Maharashtra Lok Sabha Seats

The Congress party has revealed its lineup of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, marking a significant move ahead of the polls. In its initial announcement, the party declared contenders for seven crucial constituencies across the state, showcasing a mix of seasoned politicians and fresh faces vying for parliamentary seats.

Diverse Candidates Across Maharashtra

The selection process reflects the Congress's strategy to field candidates with diverse backgrounds and regional affiliations. Notable among them is Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj, a direct descendant of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, who will represent the party in the Kolhapur Lok Sabha constituency. In Nandurbar (ST), Advocate Goval Padvi, son of former Maharashtra minister and MLA K C Padvi, will challenge incumbent BJP MP Heena Gavit. Meanwhile, Balwant Wankhede, the Congress MLA from Daryapur (SC) constituency, steps into the electoral arena for the Amaravti (SC) seat in Vidarbha. Other prominent candidates include former MLA Vasant Chavan in Nanded, Dr. Shivaji Kalge in Latur, Praniti Shinde in Solapur, and Ravindra Dhangekar in Pune.

The announcement of candidates comes even before the finalization of the seat-sharing formula within the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). In a parallel development, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray has pledged unwavering support to Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj, a descendant of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, for the Kolhapur Lok Sabha seat. Despite ongoing discussions within the MVA regarding seat allocations, Thackeray's endorsement solidifies Shahu Maharaj's position as the opposition alliance's candidate, signaling a united front against the ruling party.
