On Tuesday, December 28, Congress’s city unit chief, Bhai Jagtap remarked that the party will contest all seats in the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, reported news agency PTI.

Presently, Congress is part of the coalition in Maharashtra’s Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government that includes the Shiv Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

The account quoted Jagtap who elaborated on how the Mumbai Congress will contest the arriving BMC elections on all the 236 seats by itself. He is of the opinion that they will fly the Congress flag yet again over the civic authority.

On the occasion of the 137th foundation day of Congress, Jagtap at the event mentioned that party leader Rahul Gandhi will conduct a rally during the BMC elections that are expected to be conducted in early 2022.

While Gandhi was anticipated to address the party workers this month on the event, he was unable to do so owing to the increase in COVID-19 cases and Omicron scare.

According to the report, Jagtap gave an election call wherein he exclaimed that they will contest on all seats and win. Currently, the BMC is ruled by the Shiv Sena. Interestingly, the civic body has a yearly budget of over INR 30,000 crore which is larger than the budget of certain small states in India.
