Accounts claim that MLA Pratap Sarnaik had met Shinde and during the meeting, he handed over a letter demanding that a public holiday be declared on the day of Dahi Handi. The said demand is believed to have been accepted by Shinde, who declared a public holiday in Maharashtra.
Recently, Shinde announced that all COVID-19-related restrictions have been withdrawn for the celebrations this year. However, it is necessary to follow all the rules of the Supreme Court and Bombay High Court (HC).
