Mumbai - Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) did not entertain the idea of renaming Dadar East monorail station as "Vitthal Mandir" and rejected the proposal on 30th January. Vitthal devotees and Nagri Dakshata Samiti have decided to observe an indefinite protest from 1st March 2017.
The indefinite protest will begin around 9 am at Vitthal temple where all the devotees will gather for their demand to rename the station.
Vitthal Mandir Samiti had demanded renaming of Dadar East Monorail station as Vitthal Mandir as it is close to the famous 400 years old Vitthal temple. Devotees were of the view that if railways can name Oshiwara station as Ram Mandir then monorail station can be named as Vitthal Mandir.
