District Collector to inaugurate wheelchair accessible bus on May 18 for differently-abled voters

The inauguration ceremony of low floor electric wheelchair accessible bus and wheelchair accessible taxi for the convenience of disabled voters for the Lok Sabha General Election 2024 will take place on Saturday May 18, 2024 at 4:30 pm by the Collector and District Election Officer Rajendra Kshirsagar at the Collectorate office. Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare Department and District Disability Coordinating Officer Prasad Khairnar has given this information.


In the face of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 i.e. the celebration of democracy, a special planning and action program has been organised for the transportation of disabled voters through the Assistant Commissioner of Social Welfare and the District Disability Coordination Officer to enable the disabled voters to exercise their right to vote easily and easily.

A van has been arranged for 9364 differently abled male voters and 6750 differently abled female voters in 4 Lok Sabha and 26 Vidhan Sabha constituencies of Mumbai Suburban district and two differently abled transgender voters in a total of 16116 differently abled voters to exercise their right to vote easily and easily in 1106 polling stations at 613 places under the transport scheme.

Also under the concept of "Easymove" in the assembly constituencies where the number of locomotor voters is relatively high. Wheelchair accessible taxis have been arranged in 9 such assembly constituencies. Also, 25 low-floor electric wheelchair accessible buses will be provided for each assembly constituency and schedule of ring route and shuttle route will be provided for assembly.
