Nariman Point - It is difficult to stop the unpaid electioneering on social media, said J. S. Saharia, election commissioner of Maharashtra. The Mumbaikars are going to cast their votes for the BMC elections on Tuesday.
There are 2275 candidates in the fray for 227 seats of the BMC. Total 92 lakh voters will use their franchise to elect their ward representatives at 7,304 polling booths. The election commission has appointed over 45,000 employees on the election duty. The police have seized 188 arms from anti-social elements in the cities going to vote on Tuesday. Prohibitory action has been taken against 33,000 persons while cash of Rs 61 lakh has been seized across the state, informed Saharia while addressing a press conference here on Monday.
