Ex Congress MLA Krishna Hegde joins BJP
Vile Parle- This could be a big blow for the city's Congress unit.
The Congress' former MLA Krishna Hegde joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday in the presence of state chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at the CM's official residence, Varsha.
The CM who had visited Vile Parle for an event earlier in the week, met Hegde through Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar. While the rumours flew thick and fast that Hegde would soon join the BJP after he was spotted traveling in the CM's car along with Shelar, these were confirmed on the weekend.
It is now believed that city Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam's often high handed behaviour is leading to exits from the party. A second generation Congressman, Hegde represents the Vile Parle constituency.
