The Election Commission has registered a complaint against Congress candidate Milind Murli Deora who is contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Mumbai South constituency. 

While campaigning on April 2, Deora informed that during Paryushan, Shiv Sena cooked non-vegetarian food in front of Jain temples asking the Jain community to vote against them. 

Milind Deora has been booked under sections 171 and 125 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for instigating community divide amid elections. Election Commission issued a notice against the Congress candidate on April 19 for violating the model code of conduct and registered an FIR with LT Marg Police station.

There are large number of voters from the Jain community in South Mumbai. After Deora’s remarks, Advocate Dharmendra Mishra and Sunny Jain filed a complaint against the Congress candidate on April 8.
