Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday admitted that the induction of five Shiv Sena corporators into the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) was wrong. He, however, said that the same has been corrected.

Pawar was referring to the episode of five Shiv Sena corporators from Parner in Ahmednagar district joining the NCP. They had switched over to the NCP in the presence of the Deputy CM at Baramati in Pune district.

However, after Shiv Sena leader Milind Narvekar conveyed the displeasure expressed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Ajit Pawar sent the five councillors to Matoshree to end the tussle.

According to media reports, Shiv Sena leader Milind Narvekar - a close aide to Thackeray and his personal assistant - had a word with Ajit Pawar and conveyed the displeasure over NCP inducting five of Sena’s councillors.

On July 8, the five councillors who had joined NCP last week came back to Sena’s fold. The Shiv Sena made it clear that such decisions should be taken keeping each other in confidence since they have a government to run.

Meanwhile, the NCP obliged to Sena’s concerns and Ajit Pawar sent the five corporators to Matoshree. The issue was also discussed with NCP chief Sharad Pawar after which the five corporators returned to Sena’s fold.

Ajit Pawar said that if such politics is played with allies, it will impact the political relationship. “It happened by mistake and we have corrected it after facts were revealed,” he was quoted as saying in the media reports.
