Fort soil, river water add to Shivaji memorial hoopla

Chembur- 72 'mangal kalash', vessels holding water from rivers across 36 districts in the state as well as soil from the state's forts have been brought into the city.
The water and soil will be part of the bhumi poojan, the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Shivaji Memorial that will take place on 24 December. The much hyped ceremony will be conducted at the hands of prime minister Narendra Modi. The 'kalash' were brought to the Chembur Panjarpole on the morning of 23 December, and the procession then moved towards the MMRDA, where the actual ceremony will take place on Saturday. State PWD minister Chandrakant Patil, state housing minister Prakash Mehta, state cultural minister Vinod Tawde and BJP state president Raosaheb Danve were present at the function in Chembur.
