Shrikant Shinde is Shiv Sena’s candidate from the Kalyan constituency. Shrikant Shinde is the son of senior Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde who is a State cabinet Minister. Shinde is a doctor and has studied M.B.B.S., M.S.(Orthopedics). Earlier, Shrikant Shinde had won the seat for his party as he emerged victorious from the Kalyan constituency in 2014.

Political Career

Shinde had defeated Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate, Anand Paranjpe in 2014 by almost 2.5 lakh votes to emerge victorious from the Kalyan constituency. Along with this, Shinde has also been the Health & Family Welfare Committee member since 2014.

Active Politician

He has also been an active Lok Sabha member with an 83 per cent attendance and had also asked 930 questions throughout his tenure. He had also made the optimum use of the development fund allotted to him along with approving the construction of Chikhloli Railway station.

The Kalyan Constituency came into existence in 2009 and consists of Ambernath, Ulhasnagar, Kalyan East, Dombivali, Kalyan (Rural) and Mumbra-Kalwa.

After Shrikant Shinde won the 2014 general election, Kalyan constituency is considered strong and safe for Shiv Sena. Shinde is contesting LS poll yet again, against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Babaji Patil who is an existing corporator.
