On Tuesday, Opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis alleged the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is hiding COVID-19 related death. Even in the past, Fadnavis had raised questions on the line of treatment and the number of tests that are being carried out in the state.

Even earlier in the month, Fadnavis had written to the CM urging to increase the testing in the city.

On Tuesday, Fadnavis put in fresh allegations against the ruling government and claimed that around 500 Covid-related deaths were being hidden. He was speaking on the supplementary demand proposal in the state assembly. Furthermore, he claimed that even in the past, BMC had reconciled almost 1,000 deaths at a later date.

Mumbai clocked 1,346 fresh cases of the coronavirus on September 8 taking the COVID-19 tally in the city to 1,58,756. Moreover, 42 people succumbed to the disease, taking the death toll to 7,939.

According to the BMC, Mumbai's COVID-19 recovery rate is 79 per cent, as the city had 24,556 active cases as on Tuesday. The civic body further added that the city's average growth rate for the coronavirus cases increased to 1.07 per cent, while the average doubling rate came down to 65 days.

The state health minister Rajesh Tope has so far denied these allegations and assured that things are on track in fighting coronavirus in Mumbai.
