Even after NCP leader and Maharashtra Minister Nawab Malik was remanded custody till March 3 by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government have ruled out his resignation until his was proven guilty.

The leaders of MVA government are of the opinion that the entire case against Malik is 'fabricated'. Besides, there was a 'followed a pattern' of cases against opposition party leaders across the country by central agencies.

Meanwhile, BJP has warned of statewide agitation from today, February 24, demanding Nawab Malik’s resignation.

"We will take to the streets and agitate if Malik does not resign," state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil said.

Following Malik’s arrest, all top NCP leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, MP Supriya Sule and Minister Jayant Patil, met at NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s residence in Mumbai.

This was immediately followed by a meeting at Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s official residence in which leaders of the Shiv Sena, the NCP and the Congress, including Pawar were present.

Moreover, minutes after Malik was sent to ED custody, opposition leader Devendra Fadnavis alleged, "this is a very serious issue where a minister has real estate deals with Dawood Ibrahim who is India's enemy. Dawood's sister Haseena Parkar got the money that Malik paid for the land deal.

Malik was brought out of the ED office after hours of questioning. Based on accounts, he will now be taken for a medical examination. Videos have been doing the rounds on social media where NCP workers can be seen gathering outside the ED office in Mumbai. The workers raised slogans after Malik's arrest.

According to narratives, Malik was allegedly not cooperating in the questioning. The NCP leader after being arrested stated that while he is nabbed he is not scared. Adding that they will fight and win.
