Vidhan Sabha Speaker Nana Patole, on Friday, October 30, directed the officials from the government to prepare a report regarding the misuse of government revenue land on Mazgaon Plot No. 593. He asked the team to submit the same to the Revenue Minister within 15 days.

Discussions regarding the same were held in a meeting at the Vidhan Bhawan where the attendees discussed the inappropriate use of the land in Mazgaon, and the loss worth crores of rupees which the Maharashtra Government has to face due to the agreement. Details regarding the same were given in a statement submitted by petitioner Satish Khandge.

Present at the meeting were Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat, Additional Chief Secretary Revenue Nitin Karir, Principal Secretary Urban Development Bhushan Gagrani, Deputy Commissioner Labor Balasaheb Wagh, Joint Secretary Revenue Chavan, Joint Secretary Law and Justice Nitin Jivane and other officials.

Addressing the issues, Nana Patole said that a detailed investigation needs to be conducted regarding plot 593 in Mazgaon, and officials should also look into the matters related to the loss of crores. Responsibility for the same has been given to the Secretary of the Department.

The land belongs to the government and was given at lease with the permission of BIRF, Revenue and Forest Department, Urban Development Department, Labor Commissioner, Collector, Mumbai City. The idea was to redevelop the same keeping the terms and conditions in mind, post which officials were given orders to start 10,000 spindle spinning mills. However, the same was not started as per schedule.

The development deal in this government-owned land case is complex and detailed issues were raised in terms of financial assistance, mortgage deal, price agreed upon while transferring the land. Considering the same, Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue Department Nitin Karir have asked the respective teams to submit a to the Revenue Minister within 15 days, post which necessary action will be taken.
