In an unusual sight, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday, February 20, met Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao at Varsha, his official residence in Mumbai as part of efforts to bring together like-minded parties against the BJP at the national level.

However, after a two-hour meeting at the official residence of Thackeray, the two leaders addressed a press conference where KCR said this is a "good beginning" and that they will meet again after speaking to leaders of other regional and national parties.

Meanwhile, Thackeray, in a veiled attack on the BJP, said the present day "politics of revenge" was neither Hindutva nor Indian culture, and that the situation needed to change. CM also announced "complete support" to KCR’s fight against the BJP's alleged anti-people policies and to uphold the federal spirit.

On his visit to Mumbai, KCR was accompanied by Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaders, including his daughter who is also MLC Kavitha Kalvakuntla and actor-politician Prakash Raj. While Sanjay Raut, Subhash Desai, Eknath Shinde and Arvind Sawant from the MVA government attended the meeting.

KCR, who arrived in Mumbai following an invitation from Thackeray, mentioned that they have agreed on issues pertaining to development and the need for structural changes in the country.

Moreover, a range of issues, including irrigation projects like Babhli Dam, Tummidi Hatti, Medigadda barrage and Chanaka-Korata barrage, were discussed during the meeting.

"We discussed the political situation, development issues being faced by the country after 75 years of independence," he said.

KCR, the founder of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), said he has invited Thackeray to Hyderabad.

"We will meet again after speaking to other regional and national parties on the road ahead. The path taken from Maharashtra always leads to success. This is a good beginning and it is a fight for preserving democracy," he added.

Later, he also met NCP chief Sharad Pawar at the latter's Silver Oak residence in Mumbai. The meeting was also attended by NCP MP Supriya Sule.
