Ahead of Lok Sabha and Maharashtra elections next year, the political situation in the state is trapped around issues. With political parties initiating their campaigns for the upcoming elections, it has been learned that Maharashtra Congress President Ashok Chavan might contest the upcoming state assembly poll. 

According to sources, the Maharashtra Congress President is not going to contest in the Lok Sabha polls next year. However, it is being said that Ashok Chavan can be the face for the Chief Minister post.

Earlier in 2014 general assembly elections, only two candidates from Congress were elected in the parliament including Chavan. Now, Chavan’s wife might get a ticket from Nanded. Ashok Chavan has been the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra for almost two years. Chavan took an oath on December 8, 2008, and left the office on November 9, 2010.
