The 76th anniversary of India's Independence Day will be celebrated on Tuesday, 15 August 2023. It has been informed through the State Protocol Department that on the occasion of Independence Day, the main official function of flag hoisting will be held simultaneously in the state at 9:05 am and no other official or semi-official function will be organised between 8:35 am to 9:35 am.


According to the circular issued in this regard, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will celebrate the main government program of the state by hoisting the flag at Mantralaya in Mumbai at 9:05 am, while Governor Ramesh Bais will hoist the flag in Pune. The flag will be hoisted by the respective foster minister or other minister at the headquarters of each district as per the announcement of the state government. If due to some unavoidable reason the minister is unable to be present, then the divisional commissioner at the divisional headquarters and the collector at the district headquarters will hoist the flag.

If an office or organisation other than a government or semi-government office wishes to conduct its own flag hoisting ceremony, it must do so before 8:35 am or by 9:35 am. The National Anthem will be played immediately after saluting the National Flag. It has also been requested that all those attending the function wear a dress suited for the ceremony.
