As the Devendra Fadnavis-led government's Maharashtra tenure comes to an end this year, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil informed that the state assembly elections will be held in October while the model code of conduct will be implemented in September. 

Earlier in 2014, the Vidhan Sabha election was held on October 15. Therefore, in the year 2019, the state assembly elections will be held between October 15 to 20. The model code of conduct of the same will be implemented from September 15, Patil further informed.  

We will try hard to win from the Baramati assembly seat this time. My aim is to defeat NCP leader Ajit Pawar. However, I am aware that in reality, this is not easy,” Patil said.

In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena recorded major victory in the state. After this, Shiv Sena and BJP has decided to contest the upcoming state assembly elections together while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress are also preparing for the same.
