Shiv Sena on Monday demanded that former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti should be declared as a “terrorist” and sent to jail under the newly passed Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Amendment bill, 2019, for speaking against those who oppose Article 35 A.

Earlier, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mufti had criticised the government and those who opposed Article 35 A saying that tinkering with the same will be similar to setting off explosives. Article 35 A provides special rights to the permanent residents of Kashmir.

Reacting to such remarks, Shiv Sena in its editorial on ‘Saamana’ said that Mufti should be jailed for speaking the “language of terrorism”.

Mehbooba Mufti has given warning over Article 35A and has urged the people of Kashmir to stay ready for sacrifice while echoing the language of separatists. The Home Minister should not tolerate this language of terrorism,” Shiv Sena's editorial in ‘Saamana’ read.

Accusing Mufti of planning to create violence in Kashmir, Shiv Sena said that the Home Minister has made anti-terror law strong and Mufti should be arrested and declared as a “terrorist” under this law.

Shiv Sena further stated that the Article 35-A breaks Kashmir from “Hindustan” and gives it different status than other states.
