Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists, on Monday, along with their spokesperson Sandeep Deshpande created a ruckus in Lower Parel’s PVR cinemas over the increased prices of food items. MNS activists have demanded the arrest of multiplex owner.

MNS activists alleged that PVR cinemas violated the government’s directive and stopped them from carrying outside food in the movie theatre. Angered by it, MNS activists staged a protest inside premises. However, the Mumbai Police tried to pacify the situation by its intervention.

During Maharashtra Assembly Monsoon Session, Food Minister Girish Bapat announced that cinema halls will be prosecuted if they don’t allow people to bring food from outside. This decision was to be implemented from August 1.

MNS workers went to the cinema hall to check if the government decision is being implemented. However, as they were not allowed to carry outside food, it led to a huge uproar.

Deshpande alleged that the police is favouring the cinema hall and is not following the government’s order.

If the police don’t register an FIR against the multiplex owner, we will agitate and protest,” warned MNS Spokesperson, Sandeep Deshpande.
