Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Monday instructed his party workers not to address him as ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’ (Emperor of Hindu Hearts). The title used for late Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray.

While talking to the reporters, MNS leader Bala Nandgaokar said that Raj Thackeray has directed them to not refer him by that title becasue late Bal Thackeray is the only ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’.

Some social media posts and banners have mentioned Raj Thackeray as the ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’. He has instructed us not to address him by that title as the same is used only for late Balasaheb Thackeray,” said MNS leader Bala Nandgaokar.

This comes after MNS workers put up a poster in Thane, which referred to Raj Thackeray as the ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’. The poster also reads "Thackeray is the true heir of his Bal Thackeray’s legacy".

The outrage sparked after local Shiv Sena activists opposed Raj Thackeray’s portrayal as the ‘Hindu Hriday Samrat’.

The MNS chief was speaking at a party meeting in Mumbai ahead of a rally, which is scheduled to happen on February 9 at Azad Maidan. The rally will be in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Earlier, during MNS’ first-ever conclave, Raj Thackeray launched a new party flag and unveiled the party’s saffron agenda. Hijacking the ‘Hindutva’ and ‘sons of the soil’ issues, the MNS chief said that these two will be the agendas for this party.

On the occasion of Bal Thackeray’s birth anniversary, Amit Thackeray – son of Raj Thackeray – was also appointed as MNS leader.
