Mumbai - MNS activists are demanding a completely toll-free Maharashtra. Vehicles have been exempted from toll tax on all state highways till the midnight of 11 November. This includes toll nakas in Mumbai as well .Now political parties are demanding permanent exemption from toll tax . Late BJP leader Gopinath Munde had promised the same before the state assembly elections. But the state government has reneged on its promise, says MNS corporator Santosh Dhuri.
The current state government is toeing the previous regime's line as far as toll tax is concerned, says RTI activist Anil Galgali. The construction companies have collected far more toll tax than what they have actually invested in those projects, alleges Galgali.
