In protest against Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), under the ‘India against EVM’ campaign, a movement was initiated at Samvidhan (Constitution) chowk in Nagpur.

In order to intensify the movement against EVMs, such protests are being organised in cities including Mumbai and other parts of the country. Once again, ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra, the issue of EVM is gaining momentum.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray earlier met Interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss his campaign against the use of EVMs in the elections.

Similarly, a campaign is being carried out from Deekshabhoomi in Nagpur to Chaityabhoomi in Mumbai which demands that the elections should be held on ballot paper instead of EVMs. Similar campaigns will be also initiated at Wardha, Amravati, Akola, Jalana, Aurangabad, Ahmednagar, Nashik and Pune.
