After the approval of Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari for the appointment of three vacancies of members of Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), notifications have been issued.

Moreover, Minister of State for General Administration Dattatraya Bharane had met Governor Koshyari yesterday to approve the appointment of members of the MPSC for the vacant posts.

As a member of the MPSC, Dr Devanand Baburao Shinde, Dr Pratap Ramchandra Dighavkar and Rajiv Ranjit Jadhav has been appointed as per the notification. Moreover, a total of 6,998 candidates are eligible for interviews for 2,192 posts as per Electrical Engineering Service Examination (16 posts), out of which, 377 candidates have been interviewed and the remaining 6,621 candidates are yet to be interviewed. Now the appointment of these members will speed up the recruitment process and will provide relief to the candidates appearing for the competitive examinations.

Minister of State for General Administration Dattatraya Bharane said that the issue of increasing the number of members of the MPSC on the lines of the Kerala Public Service Commission has also been discussed in the meeting with Governor Koshyari. The term of one of the members of the commission is coming to an end soon and a proposal will be sent soon to fill the vacancies, he told the governor. "Once both these proposals are received, a positive decision will be taken on them immediately," Bharane said.

Meanwhile, the appointment of these three members had caused a rift between the Mahavikas Aghadi government and the governor earlier.
