The Maratha reservation movement, a statewide call for action, is gaining traction. The movement has now received the backing of Mathadi labourers, leading to a one-day symbolic closure of all five marketplaces under the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (APMC).

To show support for the cause, a one-day bandh has been scheduled for today, October 27. There will be a temporary suspension of operations in the APMC-supervised fruit, grain, onion, potato, and spice markets.

Manoj Jarange Patil is at the forefront of this movement. With the support of Mathadi workers from the Maharashtra State Mathadi Transport and General Workers Union, villagers across the state have shown their support.

Today, workers joined Navi Mumbai's Mathadi Bhavan from 10 am to express their support for the action.

The Mathadi organisation has been instrumental in the Maratha reservation struggle. This dates back to a historic march at Vidhan Bhavan on March 22, 1982, organised by the organisation's founder, Annasaheb Patil. Annasaheb Patil passed away for the cause of the reservation on March 23. Since then, Mathadi workers have continued to fight for reservations. They have also actively participated in ongoing protests.
