NCP President Sharad Pawar's big statement made on Thursday, December 3, 2020, regarding the discussion on Supriya Sule as the Chief Minister has sparked conversations in the political circles. As per reports, Pawar made a statement on if Supriya Sule could lead the party and be at the top in the politics of the state or remain active in the politics at the Center.

The topic of discussion began when BJP leader MLA Ashish Shelar, at a recently held book launch, stated that a large section of the society in Maharashtra expects an accomplished Maratha woman to become the Chief Minister of the state. He expressed his support and said that a person like him can give one hundred per cent support for this. Further, while addressing, he mentioned that Sharad Pawar is a great leader with a clear mindset. While the state has many people holding big posts, there are only a handful of them who hold these positions with a big heart. This statement then led to Supriya Sule's discussion. However, Shelar later clarified that the comment was made in the context of the book and was not intended to be political.

Furthermore, BJP state president Chandrakant Patil said that if Sharad Pawar had the power to decide and a chance to appoint he would make Supriya Sule the chief minister instead of his nephew Ajit Pawar. Apparently, reports state that Sharad Pawar had mentioned this at an interview in recent times.

However, clarifying the same, Sharad Pawar said everyone has a passion, and Supriya Sule does not have an interest in state politics. She is focused on politics at a national level and has received many awards for her work. Besides her, NCP has many other young leaders who can hold the position and the names could be considered, however, Sharad Pawar ruled out the possibility of Supriya Sule becoming the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
