Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rohit Pawar has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of tarnishing the image of Mumbai Police despite the Supreme Court observing that the Mumbai Police’s investigation in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case wasn’t at fault.

After the Supreme Court’s decision to transfer the SSR death case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the BJP leaders in Maharashtra have gone hammer and tongs in attacking the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya even demanded the resignation of Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and said that Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh also owes an explanation regarding the handling of SSR death case.

Earlier, Ashish Shelar also raised questions over Mumbai Police’s investigation and said that it wasn’t allowed to work in the right direction. Meanwhile, BJP MP Narayan Rane and his sons are targeting Thackeray family in connection with the SSR death case.

Reacting to this, Rohit Pawar took a dig at the BJP leaders for their ‘noble’ work of tarnishing the image of Maharashtra Police in the country in order to gain politically in Bihar.

“It is good that the court has clarified that there is no fault in the investigation carried out by Mumbai Police in the Sushant Singh Rajput case. However, BJP leaders are doing their ‘noble’ work of tarnishing the image of Maharashtra Police in the country to gain politically in Bihar,” Pawar said.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the Bihar government’s order to transfer the SSR death case to CBI. The bench found no fault in the FIR registered in Bihar against actress Rhea Chakraborty and her family members.

The court said that Bihar Police had jurisdiction to register FIR at the complaint of Sushant Singh Rajput’s father. A single bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy held the transfer of the case to CBI valid.
