While the MLAs are shifting loyalties to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will launch ‘Shiv Swarajya Yatra’ across Maharashtra from August 7 to counter the ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’ being carried out by Shiv Sena.

NCP is organising the ‘Shiv Swarajya Yatra’ ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly polls in order to encourage the party leaders and workers. The state-wide tour also aims to promote the youth leadership in the party and the same will be carried out under the leadership of NCP MP Dr. Amol Kolhe.

However, in a major setback to NCP ahead of the assembly polls, several senior leaders including those who were close aides to party supremo Sharad Pawar, have joined the BJP and Shiv Sena. Earlier, former NCP Mumbai President Sachin Ahir had joined Shiv Sena.

On Wednesday morning, several other NCP leaders including Chitra Wagh, Shivendra Raje Bhosale, Madhukar Pichad and his son Vaibhav Pichad and others joined BJP in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
