Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said that not a single tree will be cut for the memorial to Shiv Sena founder, late Bal Thackeray. The Bal Thackeray memorial has been proposed to build in Aurangabad. 

While talking to the reporters, CM Uddhav Thackeray said that the indigenous tree species will be planted at Priyadarshini garden where the memorial is proposed to be constructed. 

During his visit in central Maharashtra, CM Thackeray examined the cite of the memorial and said that more tree should be planted here. 

Earlier in December 2019, Amruta Fadnavis, the wife of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, had tweeted media reports suggesting that the construction of memorial would require felling of nearly 1,000 trees.

This sparked controversy and trouble for Shiv Sena amid the Aarey issue. As this happened, Uddhav Thackeray had asked the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation to ensure that no trees were cut for the memorial.
