After the Maharashtra government presented an economic survey report and the additional budget in the state assembly monsoon session, the opposition on Wednesday came out in protest and created ruckus over the same. While demanding an all-party committee to verify the growth and development statistics given in economic survey carried out by the Fadnavis-led government, the opposition also targeted the additional budget calling it “directionless”.

Maharashtra Legislative Council Opposition leader, Dhananjay Munde earlier said that Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was expected to deliver relief measures to farmers for the ongoing drought condition in the state.

Munde further stated that no steps have been taken to address the agrarian crisis and unemployment. The opposition also highlighted the silence maintained by CM Fadnavis on reservation demands of the Dhangar community.

Moreover, the opposition leaders alleged “leak” of the provisions of the state’s additional budget on Maharashtra Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar’s official twitter handle while demanding an investigation by cyber cell into the same.

During the proceedings of the lower house in Maharashtra legislature on Tuesday, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Jayant Patil pointed out that the additional budget provision was public before the same was presented in the legislative assembly.

CM Fadnavis along with the state finance minister rejected the allegations saying that the tweets on the official handle were put out after Sudhir Mungantiwar began his speech. However, this couldn’t convince the opposition.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Legislative Assembly speaker Haribhau Bagade asserted that he would order a probe into the matter if sufficient evidence was provided.
