Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Girish Bapat on Wednesday slammed the opposition leaders for criticising Baba Ramdev. On this issue, MLAs from both – ruling and opposition – sides were involved in sloganeering against each other.

Congress MLA Sanjay Dutt has accused the government of giving a huge concession to Baba Ramdev for buying land. On this, Girish Bapat stated that Baba Ramdev is known as a ‘Yogguru’ worldwide and his criticism is not acceptable. He went on to say that Baba Ramdev is god-like and is a man of national importance.

"What else do you call a fraud?” the opposition said in the house.

Dutt added that if Ramdev baba is a ‘Desh Purush’ then it is great contempt for the men who are painted in the hall of this assembly.

If you call Baba Ramdev as a man of national important then we strongly condemn this government,” MLA Bhai Jagtap protested.

The members of Congress and NCP protested against the remarks of Bapat and shouted, “Gali Gali main shor hai, BJP wale chor hai.” After the chaos and shouting in the assembly hall, Chairman Ramraje Naik-Nimbalkar adjourned the assembly for half an hour.
