In a major setback to Congress amid national elections, the party’s spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi resigned after expressing her discontent over restoring the position of party workers who had misbehaved with her last year.
As this happened, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut confirmed that Chaturvedi will join Sena. Later in the day, the Congress spokesperson joined Shiv Sena on April 19 in the presence of party chief Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai.
I have decided to go back to my roots and work for the development of Mumbai. I know my ideology will be questioned but being a Mumbaikar, I have always associated with Shiv Sena. I wish to work for women empowerment, youth and Sena is a better platform to achieve my goals,” said Priyanka Chaturvedi in a press conference.

Chaturvedi was recently trending on social media for taking a jibe at Union Minister Smriti Irani over controversy related to Irani’s educational qualification.
