Union minister of state for social justice, Ramdas Athawale, said that the Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribe (SC and ST) candidates need to be given reservation in private sector jobs. Athawale was addressing a press conference at Sahyadri Guest House here on Saturday.

Athawale also said that he will meet prime minister Narendra Modi to put forward his demands in this connection.

The Supreme Court has directed the Union and State governments to include Divyangas in the government services. On this backdrop, Athawale held a meeting in Mumbai. Athawale directed the concerned officers to fill up the positions reserved for Divyangas and warned of action if they fail to implement the SC orders.

The officials of Railway, Air India, JNPT, BPT, BMC, NMMC, and State government were present in the meeting.

There are more than 5000 posts vacant which are reserved for Divyangas. The Union government has made allocation of Rs 762.85 crore for Divyangas in the Budget for the year 2017-18.
