Apparently, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ government seem to have misjudged its role as the judiciary. Maharashtra government on Sunday withdrew six rioting cases registered against Shiv Pratishthan founder Sambhaji Bhide including hundreds of his workers.

This information was relieved through an RTI (Right to Information) filed by RTI activist Shakeel Ahmed. From 2008 to 2018, 41 cases have been withdrawn by Maharashtra government registered against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena workers, Ahmed told Mumbai Live.

A report submitted by Shodhan committee to Maharashtra government blames Sambhaji Bhide for inciting Bhima-Koregaon Violence. Earlier, Retired Bombay High Court Justice B.G. Kolse Patil said that the state government is not ready to accept this report.

Maharashtra government has misused its authority to withdraw cases registered against Shiv Sena, BJP, and Bhide. Bhima-Koregaon Violence case is a sensitive issue and the investigation is currently going on in the matter. Despite this, Why did the state government withdraw other rioting cases registered against Bhide and his workers?” asked RTI Activist Shakeel Ahmed.

During Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress alliance before 2014, not a single case was withdrawn. Ahmed has written a letter to Maharashtra government seeing a reply on the 41 cases withdrawn which were registered against them and informed that he is ready to file a petition in Bombay High Court against this move carried out by the state government.
