Senior Congress leader Narayan Rane has decided to quit the party after being falsely promised the Chief Minister’s position.

Announcing his decision at a press conference in Kudal, he also resigned from the legislative council. In his hour-long speech, he ranted against Ashok Chavan and Ahmed Patel. He also spoke about Congress President Sonia Gandhi promising him the CM’s position.

I went to Congress because I was assured that I will be made chief minister in six months. I waited for 12 years, when I found that there was no scope for me in the Congress, I have decided to quit from the primary membership of the party and membership of the legislative council,Narayan Rane.

There were rumours that he was joining BJP but he said that he hasn’t made any decision on his future.

I submitted my resignation to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi at 2:30pm. I left the party because it has not fulfilled any promise it made in the last 12 years,” Narayan Rane.

It remains to be seen if the former Shiv Sena member joins BJP in the future as Shiv Sena won’t be too pleased with that alliance.
