Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Majid Memon has attacked Narendra Modi-led central government over reducing the security of prominent leader in the country.

Memon has alleged that Sharad Pawar is a soft target. According to media reports, despite ‘Z’ security being provided to Sharad Pawar, the security guards are not on duty.

This comes after Shiv Sena formed an alternative government in the state with Congress and NCP. If you recall, post the state elections in 2019, the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government managed to throw the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) out of power and form an altrenative goverment.

There’s no doubt that Devendra Fadnavis was unable to be swore-in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra again and one of the main reasons for the same was Sharad Pawar. The NCP chief ws intrumental in helping its party bag the necessary votes. Later when the oppertunity came, he was also the key link between Congress and Shiv Sena. It is due to his intervention that Sonia Gandhi agreed to lend her support and tie up with Shiv Sena to form a govenment in Maharashtra.

NCP leaders have alleged that Pawar’s security has been reduced under political malfeasance.

Recently, Pawar made a statement which could lead to political backlash. In an event organised by NCP’s minority unit in Mumbai, the party chief said that representatives from the minority communities had stated that they won’t object to NCP forming government with Shiv Sena “but BJP should be kept away from power in Maharashtra”.
