It is well-known that that Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government have stayed or invoked several development works initiated by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in the last 19 months. If reports are to be believed, these projects were meant to provide basic facilities to rural areas.

Earlier, all these works had been stayed by the Shinde-Fadnavis government. Now they have been scrapped with immediate effect.

Accordingly, with this decision, it has come to light that it is estimated that development works to the tune of ₹800 crores have been scrapped.

On the other hand, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde has claimed that 72 big decisions had been taken in three months after forming government. These decisions include petrol-diesel price reduction and aid to farmers beyond the norms spelt out by the NDRF among others.

Shinde said that if the government and builders work with mutual cooperation for redevelopment projects in the city through cluster redevelopment, the housing sector will get a definite boost.

For those unversed, on July 17 this year, it cancelled appointments on all the government-run corporations, boards and committees. It has also stayed funds approved by the previous government from April 2021 for development works in which tenders were not issued. It has further stayed all land allotment decisions taken by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) between the months of June and July.
