Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP, took a swipe at the current ruling party Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), claiming that it is "entertaining" people, and questioned the decision of opening cinema halls and drama auditoriums during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Saturday, September 25 permitted the state to operate cinema halls and drama auditoriums from October 22. However, they must follow all the COVID-19 guidelines that are necessary to prevent the spread of the virus.

In the weekly column of 'Rokhthok' in the Sena mouthpiece Saamana, Sanjay Raut, who is the executive editor of Marathi daily, said that BJP had crossed all the limits.

He mentioned in the newspaper that even though the pandemic and restrictions continue, political entertainment programmes are on in the country. The opposition party is providing mystery and comedy in entertainment. He further questioned that if there was a need to open cinema halls and drama auditoriums.

Cinema halls were shut in the state due to the lockdown restrictions that were imposed during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Raut had also mentioned that the BJP is made a mockery of central probe agencies and added that opposition is just a comedy show. It is doing nothing but threatening ED inquiries.
